Answer: Trying to Build a Subscription on "How To" Content.
So...
What Content Should You Use to Build Them?
Two Types:
- Personal Case Studies This type of content is made up of you doing research on something that is working for someone and then walking people through how it all works so that they can get similar results. The Secret to why this works better than "how to content"? It's real world experience and, while people don't want to hear about the same method over and over again, they never get tired of hearing about new Case Studies of Different People who are successful. (Think about that for a second and you'll realize how true it is)
- Expert Interviews This type of content is pretty simple and is perfect for you if you'd like to build a subscription off of other people's successes. You find a few people who do similar things (and they all do it well in a different way) and you interview them. Once again this works because people never get tired of hearing the exact stories behind why certain people are succeeding in an area (especially if you throw in a step by step to each story).
Now... What Makes a Case Study or Expert
Interview better than simple how to content?
Simply Put...
If you're aiming at the right markets and you structure
it correctly... those two types of content never go out
of style.
Now... That isn't to say that just throwing together
a set of case studies or expert interviews is enough
to build a successful subscription program.
Even with those two great types of content, you still
have to know how to build a subscription program
around them.
In Short... Great Subscription Programs work because you have:
- The Right Type of Content
- The Right Structure to House that Content.
- The Right Structure to Sell that Content.
